It is amazing how a business lunch can turn into a day of discovery. On arrival in the country town of Frome, Somerset in the UK, I looked out for a suitable side road to park my car. I thought I would take a leisurely stroll down into the town.
The route I found my self taking was intriguing. The streets were narrow, cobbled and steep. They were however fascinating with quaint shops along each side. Creativity was certainly the name of the game for the street and I explored several of the businesses actually running 5 mins overtime on my appointment. Not bad for someone who’s spent some three decades or so in the East where time has been endowed with another quality.
I’ve collected 7 business cards from innovative businesses which I trust to post on a couple of favourite review sites. Just before I entered the road where I had left the car, I noted a restaurant called Thai Kitchen. Having regularly spent many happy months in Thailand since 1987, I thought I would explore.
It’s housed in a 400 year-old listed building – an old coaching inn. Intriguing. The manager was most welcoming and informative. It was good to be refeshed for the journey home through a glass of cordial.
Trust your appointments and business travel are as enjoyable as mine. Really recommend taking the time and initiative to explore. It certainly brings a richness into one’s journeyings.
