THE LANES HOTEL - A family-run business is usually the sign of personal care for the clients and Lanes is an excellent example. Set in a small Somerset village, the hotel was originally the rectory. Hotel Venezia (Frankfurt-Hahn)
Ideally positioned near the Frankfurt-Hahn airport, this family-managed hotel is a favourite of mine. You can always be sure of a warm welcome and good, comfortable accommodation. Complimentary pickup and drop off at the airport completes the service with finnesse.

Jurys Inn (in the UK)
My only experience of the Jurys Inn chain of hotels, so far, was in central Belfast.It was a great asset when travelling. The thoughtfulness of the counter-desk staff was excellent and the coffee-shop pleasant.

Breakwater Lodge Lodge (Cape Town, South Africa)
Set in the former historic prison, originally run as as postgraduate business college initiative and now part of the Protea chain. It was back in 1992 when I first met up with the staff of the Breakwater Lodge. Since then we have enjoyed several projects together. Straightforward in design and ideally positioned in the working Victoria and Albert harbour project called The Waterfront. You would be welcome there.

Tablebay Hotel (Cape Town, South Africa)
A fantastic 5-star hotel, right on the waterfront run by a fantastic team that put up with me and my 320 colleagues when we berthed our historic ship very close to the hotel in 2002. It was a privielge to meet with the manager to say thank-you and good-bye over a silver service pot of tea. A hotel of quality and creativity.
