Multiplied Beauty

          Multiplied Beauty

There are a couple of wonderful trees in our area…. One is a huge copper beech. It has such a perfect shape and is some 130 years old according to the forestry specialists.

The other is a magnificent cedar of Lebanon with its flowing, graceful branches.  As I think about such amazing designs, I reflect that they both have leaves, of differing structure but similar function to generate food for the tree and to release oxygen into the atmosphere.

If you have time it is worth reading the Wikpedia notes about leaves. "In botany, a leaf is an above-ground plant organ specialized for photosynthesis. ... Leaves are also the sites in most plants where transpiration and guttation take place. ...  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaf

Further thought leaves one amazed by the fact that tons of water are delivered through the trunk to the most distant leaves through thousands of capillary tubes. Quite a feat. Quite a design. The Creator's Handiwork for sure!!
