Surprised by Light
Travelling in London recently, I needed to check the bus timetable at night. The street lighting was diffused and I wondered how I would see the minature print on such a timetable. Then I noted a small button at the base of the timetable screen. What a wonderful discovery to find that it illuminated the timetable for a few seconds and then switched off. I thought this was a brilliant example of a useful and practical innovation with customer care in mind.
Small but so helpful...
Well done London Transport....
Coach Travel
In the UK there are some very competitive fares on the National Express coaches at certain times in the year. Worth checking when planning to travel. They can be as low as 99p. The website is very well designed to locate the cheapest fares on any specified day. http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx
Oyster Card
I've found the Oyster Card (a top-up travel card) to be very useful when travelling across London. They are now accepted on the railway system also I understand. It is good however to do some research on trips as sometimes I have been recommended to take a day Travel Card instead or purchase a normal ticket with my Senior Railcard (discount cord). There are so many options that it is good to check. Just recently I was recommended a Day Travel Card even though it was mid-afternoon with my discount card. The saving was worth making.
