HOW ARE YOU GETTING ON?  Touch Type

TTRS - empowering readers

At a community function for Bikies in Dublin, Ireland, I noted a couple of the delegates were making a good try at typing a message on a micro-computer for the Celebrity at the event.  Realising that they were struggling not only in typing accurately but in recalling the actual spelling of the words, I sought to supportively give them a guiding hand. I guess it was the residual teacher in me that empowered them to finish the task. They were delighted.

This incident highlighted that within the Bikies Association there might well be many folk facing similar challenges and the valliant work of TTRS (Touch, Type, Read and Spell) project came to mind. This innovative system enables those facing such hurdles in communication to overcome them with excitement and confidence.

As there is a regional representative for TTRS in Ireland, the next step is to put these good folk in touch with each other. Hundreds have found their way to confident reading and spelling through being part of this international project recently featured on national TV in the UK.

Recent developments at TTRS have been in the area of training on the telephone. This has been going really well. Sometimes a simple idea can really have a big impact. Well worth checking their website....
