Freight Outsourcing

A 200 year old jam-making company was bottling minature jars for the hotel industry. I was making a film of their production-line for a video in my home county in the UK, highlighting "Rare Crafts". A professional cameraman/ editor had offered to make the video for me. It was a hobby/exercise trying my hand at such a project.
At the same time, I was on the look out for new contracts for my nephew's courier business, which he had set up to cover his college fees. Enquiring if they had a need for a courier service for the mini-jars, I discovered they were indeed searching for such a service. The Jam Company management was pleased to accept my nephew's offer to freight pallets of mini-jars up to the north of the country. They would then be distributed to the various hotel catering national outlets and maybe overseas too. I believe I even went on one of the trips with him.
Yet another example of networking - being alert to the opportunities of linking individuals and businesses to benefit everyone concerned.
The video turned out well, thanks to the expertise of the cameraman and his editing skills. The concept was to make such interesting documentary stories available to those less mobile than they used to be. Thus enabling to get out and about through the regular videos produced for local residents.
