Cruising with a purpose
While in France on an assignment in the shipping world, I visited the quayside in one of the ports to explore its facilities. A cruise liner had just come alongside and one of the passengers was enjoying some land-based time standing on the bridge overlooking the vessel.
As we chatted, I discovered he was on a lecturing cruise. His subject was "comedy in the 50's or 70's". He found that clients really appreciated his sessions as they reflected on their earlier years and also were able to enjoy snippets of their favourite comedy style.
In Bangkok, over breakfast one morning, I met up with another lecturer who travels the world sharing on her speciality in the management sphere. Such conversations have given me some insight into the potential of this kind of project.
This type of community service can be very rewarding and a really unique way to travel. You can find out more about such creative projects on the following websites.
